Paul Allen

I am an experienced Scientist with a strong background in the pharmaceutical/med-tech sector, having worked for 20 years in industry, including in drug discovery and development at Pfizer and AstraZeneca. This knowledge and my range of skills are used in my current role as Proposal Manager at Innova.
In this role I head up the grant writing team and manage multiple projects for a range of clients (SMEs, large organisations, academic institutions) by building consortia and developing funding proposals.
In my almost 10 years as a grant writer, I have developed my expertise across the full grant writing process from identifying potential new funding opportunities for our clients, undertaking research and proposal writing, carrying out reviews of applications and submitting them to a range of funding bodies. This includes Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe (for UK and EU clients), Innovate UK, UKRI and NIHR across all sectors but with particular specialisation in healthcare and life sciences projects.
I have also delivered virtual and face to face training events on grant writing.
Outside of work I enjoy hill walking, wild camping and photography.
